Lakeland, Florida -- The Polk County Sheriff's Office said a triple murder happened inside a gray house along Old Road 37 and Cherry lane in Lakeland.

Two women who were reportedly in a relationship and one man were found shot to death. One of the women was Daniella Smith, the sister of suspect David Eugene Smith. The man who was also killed inside the home was 25-year-old Nikosi Williams. His father, Leroy Dempsey, told 10 News that Williams was a friend of the two women.

"My son has been a victim of being in the wrong place at the wrong time," said Dempsey. "This is not a process that you can really prepare yourself for," Dempsey added as he hugged his family members, all standing together at the scene of the crime.

Daniella Smith, who went by Diamond, lived at the house. She had allowed her brother, the suspect, to live there with her the last two months.

14-year-old Channell Walters came home on Monday night to the home and found her mother dead. Walters is in ROTC and was away for the weekend. The sheriff's office discovered the two other bodies afterward Walters' Sgt. Major reported what Waters saw inside her home.

A manhunt for the suspect started late Monday night. His mother, who also lives in Lakeland, told the sheriff's office that Smith was in the United States Army and in the 82nd Airborne. He suffers from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

"He is gone," said Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd. "We don't know where he is. He is armed. He is dangerous he is paranoid. He is delusional."

David Eugene Smith calls himself "Prince David" on his Facebook. He posted: "I hate evil, and I will not allow it on my planet."

Dempsey, who is also a veteran, said he understands PTSD but has this message for Smith:

"I pray for mercy on his soul as well. Because I do understand coming out of that military background, sometimes it is a very tough transition. What he is doing now is showing how much of a coward he is. Soldiers don't run."

Law enforcement, including SWAT located Smith around 11 a.m. in Knoxville, Tennessee near a Cracker Barrel restaurant. After a standoff with SWAT, Smith was taken into custody and transported to the hospital with a possible self-inflicted gunshot wound.
