Tampa, Florida -- The man who stole a cellphone and had a "selfie" taken of his face has been arrested.

Edel Nieto-Venzant was pumping gas at the Texaco in Riverview. When he went inside to pay, Edgar Hernandez-Santos entered his car and stole his phone.

When the Santos tried to access the phone via a password, the victim's ingenious phone app, called "Lookout," snapped a selfie of the robber after the third failed attempt, and emailed it to the victim. It also emailed GPS coordinates of the phone.

Detectives conducted interviews with personnel at the Bristol Bay apartment complex and learned of an apartment number of a possible suspect.

Detective located Hernandez-Santos and during an interview he admitted to taking the phone and identified himself in the photo taken from the cell phone app on the day the phone was stolen.

Hernandez-Santos turned over the undamaged phone which was returned to the victim. Hernandez-Santos was arrested without incident and booked into the Orient Road Jail.
