Tampa, Florida -- Three murder suspects are behind bars thanks to tips from the community. Jason Newson, Tyrell Mingo and Donnell Mingo were each charged with second degree murder for the beat down death of Carlton Reed.
On March 23, Tampa Police officers found Reed lying on his side in the middle of the street with severe injuries to his upper body. He was taken to Tampa General Hospital, where he later died as a result of his injuries.
During the investigation, Tampa Police detectives urged witnesses to come forward with information that would help identify the suspects responsible for Reed's death. Detectives identified all three suspects based on these witness statements and evidence at the scene.
On June 10, a warrant was issued for the trio's arrest. Shortly after, the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force started receiving anonymous tips about the suspects' whereabouts.
The task force, along with members of TPD's Fugitive Apprehension Unit, conducted extensive surveillance that led to the arrest of all three suspects within a 48-hour time period. Newson was located and arrested at his home without incident on June 12. Donnell Mingo and his cousin Tyrell were located and arrested the following day at two separate locations.
