Davenport, Florida — 10 News is taking action after a truck slammed into the side of a Davenport home early Sunday morning. The MacDonald family who lives inside wants justice for the driver, and change from the county.

You can still see the tire marks where a truck slammed into the side of Christian MacDonald's home, destroying his car and nearly killing his kids.

"We heard loud engine noises reversing, loud, grinding metals," said Christian MacDonald. "It's basically what saved our lives.

Crews were out at around 1 p.m. Monday to take away the car that saved Christian's kid's lives, but he says the damage is far worse than the cracks in the wall.

"It's emotional they didn't fall asleep yesterday until the wee hours worried about the bad guy or somebody crashing in our house again," he said.

And while Polk County deputies look for a silver or light-colored extended cab 2000 Dodge Ram, Stefanie MacDonald says something needs to change on her street.

"If you're not from this area, you may not even know there's a curve or a hill," she said.

"I think the county needs to do something on this bend here. There's not even signs," Christian said.

The couple says their home has been hit by cars twice before, so 10 News got in touch with Polk County road officials to see what we could do and reached Amy Gregory.

"Absolutely, we'll take a look at that and see what additional signage is necessary," Gregory said.

She says she'll be out to examine the road on Thursday.

Back in Davenport, Stefanie says she wants the driver brought to justice.

"I don't know how he could have a heart or even a conscience to see what he has done and not even wonder if he hurt somebody, killed somebody," she said.

Anyone with information about this investigation is urged to contact the Polk County Sheriff's Office at 863-298-6200.
