Tampa, Florida -- One week from today, Metropolitan Ministries will begin distributing donations to the 26,000 families who requested assistance this holiday season.

While the community has reached out to support the organization with donations of food and toys, the need is still critical.

"We've seen about a 10% growth in need, but we're also seeing a reduction in gifts, so anybody that's out there this holiday season that can help us out by buying a toy for a child, maybe some food for the holidays, that will make a big difference for a family," said Tim Marks with Metropolitan Ministries.

Food donations for a holiday meal are in great need as well as gifts for all children, especially infants and teens who most often forgotten about as people purchase items to donate.

Metropolitan Ministries says there is still time to register if you need help or if you know of a family that needs help.
