Holiday, Florida-- A 10-month-old boy was taken to the hospital Friday after being attacked and bitten by a neighbor's Pit Bull.

The incident happened around 2 p.m., but a Pasco County Sheriff's report says deputies and Animal Control officers weren't alerted of the incident until evening.

So far, officials say the baby's mother and a neighbor were standing outside of the home on the 2100 block of Ranchita Trail when the attack happened. They heard the dog's growls, and walked back in to find the Pit Bull biting the baby.

The boy was treated at a local hospital for bite wounds to his head and shoulder, but officials have not released an update on his condition.

Pasco Animal Control will take the dog for observation.
