Clearwater Central Catholic is moving on the state playoffs after beating St. Pete Catholic, 49-16 Friday night. The Marauders outscored SPC 28-0 in the second half.

CCC opened the scoring with a short DiQuan Walker touchdown run on the team's first possession of the night. They added another touchdown run before the end of the quarter - a Jeff Smith sideline sprint to the endzone to make it 14-0.

CCC stretched its lead to 21-0 after Connor Dorris scored from 3-yards out in the second quarter but couldn't hold that lead. Brad Cleppe blocked a punt and SPC recovered. A few plays later, junior quarterback Jack Sheeham fired over the middle to Markus Ruppell for a 20-yard touchdown strike. The Barons cut the lead to 21-16 at the half.

SPC had all their momentum taken away at the start of the third quarter. CCC scored 14 points in both the third and fourth quarters en route to the 33-point blowout win. CCC is now on a 3-game winnings streak and has outscored its first two playoff opponents 96-16. They have only lost one game since mid-September.

They are now just two wins away from a state championship.
