Pinellas Park, Florida -- A bicyclist is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after he was struck by a vehicle on Park Blvd.
Pinellas Park police say the bicycle rider, later identified as Jose Yebra-Cruz, was traveling against traffic when he entered the eastbound lanes and was hit by the car. The rider was ejected.
Police say the bicycle was not equipped with safety equipment or lights.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.
The roadway is currently closed while police continue to investigate.
Cruz remains in serious condition at Bayfront Hospital. Charges are pending against Cruz as the investigation continues.
