Ruskin, Florida -- Hillsborough firefighters and the Florida Forest Service successfully saved nearby homes from a 5-acre brush fire that broke out in the area of Pickford Avenue and Petrova Circle Tuesday afternoon.

Hillsborough Fire Rescue says the fire broke out around 4:40 p.m.

While no homes were closely threatened, as a precaution, units were placed between the homes and the fire as protection.

Wind drove the fire to the north where it was contained by natural breaks like roadways. A plow provided another break between the fire and the homes while crews worked to extinguish the fire.

No one was injured in the fire.
