TAMPA, Florida (WTSP/AP) - A bomb sniffing dog in Tampa is retiring with full military honors.

Military officials say that in 2012, a Belgian Malinois named Eddie found two improvised explosive devices containing 10 pounds of homemade explosives. It saved the lives of his 13-member patrol unit, which was made up of U.S. allied forces.

Eddie retired during a ceremony on Friday morning.

The dog is assigned to MacDill's 6th Security Forces Squadron and has served for about five years. In retirement, he will be reunited with his first handler, Andrew Grymes.
