Tampa, Florida -- An Envoy plane operated by American Airlines was heading from Tallahassee to Miami Thursday night when it had to make an emergency landing at Tampa International Airport.
We're told there were around 50 passengers, including crew members, on the flight. The pilot was forced to make the emergency landing around 9:30 p.m. because of a smell of smoke in the cockpit.
Passengers were given the option to take a shuttle to Miami, or to stay overnight in Tampa and take another flight in the morning.
The plane moved to air side gate F82, where crews have yet to identify the cause of the smoke.
