Ruskin woman watches her husband die while while he was trying to help others involved in a crash.
Apollo Beach, Florida -- A good Samaritan, father, and husband was hit and killed in front of his wife Saturday night while trying to help people on the side of the road who were involved in a crash.
Florida Highway Patrol says it happened around 10:20 p.m. at U.S. Highway 41 and Mirabay Boulevard in Apollo Beach.
Troopers say 32-year-old Chad Ries pulled over and was just getting out of his 2012 Volkswagen Routan to try to help the drivers when Angel Hernandez , who was driving a Ford pick up truck, hit Ries and Ries' car.
Rie's 28-year-old wife, Christen, was inside the car when it happened.
The crash happened in a very busy area near the entrance of two large subdivisions.
Investigators say 22-year-old Hernandez had a passenger with him, 22-year-old Andrew Hernandez. They were not injured in the crash and neither was Christen.
Investigators do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash and no charges have been filed against Angel Hernandez.
According to the couple's Facebook pages, Chad was a consulting engineer at World Wide Technology.
