As we remember our fallen soldiers on Memorial Day, we reflect on our loved ones. With all of the county offices and schools being closed, this is the time to find something to do and enjoy the day off. The following are various activities and events going on in the Central Florida area for the Memorial Day weekend:

Hillsborough County

Military Families Day

Price: Free for Veterans, active duty or retired military personnel and their families

Description: The Museum remembers those who have served our country by inviting all veterans, active duty, or retired military personnel and their families into the Museum as our guests. Military families may enjoy self-guided and audio tours in the Museum throughout the day. Refreshments will be served on the veranda. In addition, at 2 pm the Museum's Upstairs/ Downstairs at the Tampa Bay Hotel Live Theatre series will feature Henry Dobson, Spanish American War Soldier, 1898.

The three day event will feature live music from start to finish, plenty of food and arts and craft vendors and fun activities for the kids. The big tent will be back to supplement the shade of the beautiful oaks and provide more seating to enjoy the great music.

Description: Manasota Memorial Park will hold a Memorial Day service for veterans, families and friends. The American Riders will start the program with a ride from the Chris Cobb American Legion Post 312, 1610 57th Ave. E., in Oneco, to the Manasota Memorial Park Garden of Valor, 1221 53rd Ave. E. The Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion will conduct honors at the service. Following the service, family, friends and veterans can place the final flags of the weekend on the graves of all veterans.
