A man is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after crashing into a police transport van.

Pinellas County, Florida -- A motorcycle crashed into a Pinellas County Sheriff's Office transport van late Saturday evening.

Just before 11 p.m. on May 24, the transport van was stopped at the light on Ulmerton Road and 101st Street North, traveling eastbound. As the driver of the van began to accelerate, the driver of a Harley Davidson motorcycle, also traveling eastbound, struck the rear of the van.

The driver of the motorcycle, identified as 55-year-old Daniel Boggs, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Boggs was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Both the driver and passenger of the transport van were not injured during the crash.

Deputies say alcohol may be a contributing factor in the crash.
