Winter Haven, Florida -- Cleanup has begun on a sinkhole that opened up in a parking lot near Legoland last month.

On May 29, the sinkhole swallowed up much of a parking lot at the Publix shopping center off of Cypress Gardens Boulevard in Winter Haven. Several stores had to close and be evacuated, although the Publix was not among them.

The first step in the cleanup process is removing debris out of the hole, which could take six to seven days. After that, grout would have to be injected to stabilize the hole, and then finally the parking area would be repaved.

There is no timetable for completion of the repairs.

A parking lot sinkhole on Cypress Gardens Boulevard is getting fixed.
