St. Petersburg, Florida -- St. Petersburg Police say the hole in the road that was thought to be sinkhole at US 19 (34 Street S.) at 38th Ave.S. was actually a hole caused by a problem with a stormwater line.
The depression, located in the two outside southbound lanes of US 19 at 38th Avenue S., is about 6 feet wide and about 8 feet deep.
Due to the hole, southbound traffic is being diverted to 37th Street.
Repairs are expected to take at least 24 hours, perhaps longer.
Officials say a hole at the intesection of 34th Street S. and 38th Avenue S. is not a sinkhole and repairs will take about a day.
