SAND KEY, Fla. — Three people were rescued by a Samaritan and a Coast Guard crew from Station Sand Key on Monday after one jet ski they were aboard sank and another became disabled one mile south of Anclote Key.
About 6:09 p.m., someone aboard the sailing vessel Enterprise radioed the Coast Guard in St. Petersburg, reporting one jet ski with its bow sticking out of the water and a person in the water yelling for help, according to a release from the agency. The caller also said there were two people on a disabled jet ski.
Another boater on the fishing vessel Reel Mojo heard the broadcast, got to the scene and got the single person out of the water, and transferred them to a Coast Guard 25-foot response boat. The Coast Guard crew rescued the people from the disabled jet ski.
All three of the jet skiers were taken back to the Coast Guard station.
