North Port, Florida -- YMCA child care workers in North Port were left scrambling after rats have infiltrated their day care center.
It happened over the past week at the Child Development Center located at 14601 Tamiami Trail, according to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. The building was closed down on July 3 after evidence of rat droppings were found by employees. During a clean sweep of the building by pest control workers, multiple rats were reportedly found in the attic.
The rats were removed and the building was sanitized, however, after a re-evaluation of the building was conducted this week, it was closed again after more rat droppings and chewing damage was found.
Day care operations have been moved to the YMCA at Dallas White Park where the center was scheduled to be relocated anyways sometime within the next 90 days, North Port Family YMCA CEO Randy Dunn told the Herald-Tribune. The lease with the Tamiami Trail location has already expired.
