Tampa, Florida -- Fire rescue is at an apartment building near behind University Mall that may have been caused by lightning.

The apartments are on University Club Drive and the building affected contains eight apartments. Residents say they heard lightning hit the building and smelled smoke and then called Hillsborough County Fire Rescue.

The fire is currently under control, although the road is closed at East 131st Avenue.

Because this is at an apartment, it was automatically classified as a two-alarm fire.

The Red Cross is at the scene to assist the residents.
