Indian Rocks Beach, Florida -- An 11-year-old girl is credited with helping a young child who had become unresponsive in a hotel pool on Thursday.

The 3 1/2-year-old child was swimming with his father in the Holiday Inn pool at 401 2nd St. when another child noticed there was something wrong with the toddler, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded to the scene at about 3:53 p.m.

Riley Cooper, 11, of Plant City, helped pull the child from the pool. Adults then assisted with cardiopulmonary resuscitation and 911 was notified.

The child was taken to a hospital for treatment.
