Tarpon Springs, Florida -- Investigators are releasing details in the murder of a Tarpon Springs doctor.

Police say Dr. Steven Schwartz was killed in his home along the Anclote River on Belcher Drive back in May.

10 News poured through the report and shared the details with a close friend of the doctor, Dr. Jose Torres, who is still in shock.

The search warrant for the home notes what appears to have been forced entry on an exterior door. The search warrant also details how Doctor Schwartz died, stating he had a deep cut to his throat. The 74-year-old also had several bullet wounds to his head.

"I mean this is almost an execution, and why, because the Dr. Schwartz I knew was the most gentle person," said Dr. Torres.

It also says Schwartz's wife said a butcher knife from the kitchen was missing.

"I understand she is taking it pretty hard," said Dr. Torres. "I am surprised that a knife and a gun was used. It's like they wanted him dead. I am shocked."

Investigators are releasing details in the murder of a Tarpon Springs doctor.

Two weeks ago, detectives were still searching for clues. They removed the door and frame from the downstairs' garage near where his body was found for evidence.

"I wonder why this happened," said Dr. Torres. "I am more interested in knowing why this happened than who killed him. It's just terrible. He was so loved by so many people. He did not have any enemies that I knew of, and I knew him for 27 years."

There are still no suspects in this investigation and police are not commenting. The Schwartz family is offering a $25,000 reward for any information. That money is in addition to a separate reward from Crime Stoppers.

Anyone with information concerning this case is asked to call Tarpon Springs Police at 727-938-2849.
