Sarasota, Florida -- Sarasota Police detectives are asking for the public's help locating a man who brandished a box cutter-type knife at a woman on a SCAT bus.

The victim told detectives she was riding the bus to work when the man, who appeared to be in his late 20's to early 30's, came and sat near her on the bus.

During the ride, the woman said he tried to strike up a conversation, but she tried to ignore him. He then asked her her name and after she told it to him he started to repeat her name incessantly. She said he then asked for her phone number and she refused to give it.

She said he got up from his seat and with his back to the front of the bus, removed his black flip phone, wallet and light blue/silver box cutter knife from his pocket. The woman said he opened the knife to reveal the square blade waved it around and then closed it and put it away.

It's unknown at this time where the suspect got off of the SCAT bus. The victim describes the suspect as a black male, 6'0", 160 lbs, black hair, brown eyes, thin build, late 20s- early 30s. He was last seen wearing a light colored T-shirt, dark-colored shorts, sneakers and a white Miami Heat flat-bill ball cap with green and red accents.
