Common Core is a set of college- and career-ready standards for kindergarten through 12th grade. It impacts curriculum focused on English language arts/literacy and mathematics.
The Common Core Initiative (http://www.corestandards.org/) says 43 states have voluntarily adopted and are working to implement the standards. The goal is to make sure students are prepared for college and careers.
But not everyone agrees and Thursday night that debate hit the big screen. Glenn Beck's, "We Will Not Conform," aired live Thursday evening in movie theaters across the country. The event brought together many experts from the education field and attendees were able to interact with speakers through social media. The overall push was to stop the program.
