Pinellas Park, Florida -- The Regal Cinemas Park Place on U.S. 19 was among more than 700 theaters nation that showed "We Will Not Conform," a documentary by Glenn Beck that hopes to derail Common Core Standards in public schools.
Opinions varied before the movie, with some people saying they saw the education standards as a government intrusion to people who were curious about the program.
A theater in Pinellas Park was full for a showing of a movie against the Common Core Standards.
At issue is the perception the government has bought off the states by offering a piece of the $4.35 billion in federal money to adopt a curriculum of standardized testing. A curriculum Beck says is designed to make students fail just to retake the test at $35 a pop per student.
However, proponents of Common Core say that is all propaganda, and the goal is to level the playing field for every student in America, and make them more competitive with other nations, including China and Japan, which are surpassing U.S. students in educational development.
