St. Petersburg, Florida -- St. Petersburg Police say a man who operates a street sweeper was seriously injured after falling from the vehicle on Tuesday morning.

54-year-old Mark John Tucker Sr. was reportedly trying to climb onto the sweeper when it began to move, causing him to fall. As he was lying on the ground, the sweeper continued to move and rolled over his upper body.

Police say Tucker was taken to Bayfront Hospital, where he is in critical condition.

Traffic investigators say this appears to be an industrial-related accident and have turned the investigation over to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
