Lakeland, Florida -- Lakeland Police are looking for the driver of a truck that hit a construction worker in the 2600 block of South Florida Avenue early Wednesday morning and took off.
A witness told police Shelby Shull, 44, was working with them installing curb island crosswalks in the area around 2 a.m. Shull was standing in behind of a work truck on the side of the road when his co-worker said they heard thumping sounds. When the co-worker went to see what happened they saw several damaged orange traffic barrels and Shull lying in the road about 80 feet from where she was standing.
The witness said they saw a dark-colored pickup truck heading south on South Florida Avenue. The witness could not give any other details about the truck, but police say it would have front-end damage.
