"I went and looked and I thought they certainly wouldn't take the dog!" said 86-year-old Jane Rushing.

Rushing could not believe what she saw happen and in her condition she couldn't stop it.

"A car full of kids stood right there and opened the car door and I am calling 'Feffer come back come back, Feffer.'

"I said, 'Leave that dog. That's our dog,' and they just ended up taking her and taking off," she said.

An 86-year-old Tampa woman just wants her dog back after it was taken by a carload of people.

Thirty days ago on Friday, someone stole Rushing's 8-year-old, 7-pound miniature schnauzer affectionately named Feffer.

"That little dog is a part of everybody's life and our family and I just really want her back and don't hurt her," she said.

Tampa police have shared pictures of Feffer on its Facebook page and asked if anyone sees her to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS.

Feffer was more than a dog, she was a companion for Jane and her older friends.

"She's friendly so she was walking and they just grabbed her up and got in the car and took off," said Rushing's daughter, Donna Rushing. "And my mom was yelling that's my dog that's my dog."

They've put up pink posters in their neighborhood around Gandy Boulevard and Dale Mabry Highway, near their home at the corner of West Rogers Avenue and South Clark Avenue.

People on the police Facebook page commented they are checking websites like Craigslist for anyone trying to sell Feffer.

"That's heartless, that's heartless people that take a puppy," said Rushing.
