Clearwater, Florida – Right in the middle of busy roads and housing developments, Clearwater has carved out a paradise of green. The City recently opened Lake Chautauqua Equestrian and Nature Preserve.
The 27-acre park is located at 2312 Landmark Drive in the Countryside area and it's adjacent to another park, which creates a large, quiet, green area for both humans and wildlife.
Clearwater has a new park with trails for horseback riders.
Felicia Leonard of the Clearwater Parks and Recreation Department says so far the reaction from park users has been positive.
"They just love it. They say it's the most beautiful place in Clearwater and I happen to agree with them," Leonard says with a smile.
While the trails can also be used by walkers and joggers, the park was designed with horseback riders in mind. There's an ample parking lot for trailers, water troughs, shade shelters, and an enclosed wash rack.
It is the only equestrian park in Clearwater.
