Winter Haven, Florida -- Police are looking for a 26-year-old man who stole a woman's purse and SUV while she was working at the library on Thursday, and the victim wants her personal items back.

Police are looking for Rosjah Jovon Young, who was identified by a Bartow officer who recognized him from a suspicious person call in an abandoned building early Thursday.

"It's really sad," says Linda Barnett, who has worked at the library for 15 years, adding that she has trouble watching surveillance video. "Next thing I know he's turning lights out."

Barnett noticed her purse missing from the employee lounge around 6:15 p.m. Thursday.

"I said 'Where's my purse? My purse isn't in my locker!" Barnett said, and then though she might have left it in her truck. "I was like, 'Oh my goodness, my truck's gone.' I went back inside and said my truck's gone. So is my purse. Someone's taken in it."

Police are looking for the man who took a woman's purse and SUV while she was working at the Winter Haven library.

"I'm still in shock. I just can't believe someone would be as brazen as that," Barnett said.

Surveillance video from about 6 p.m. shows a man in his 20s walking around in the back hallway of the library, at 325 Avenue A N.W., and then he is seen with the purse and emptying it on the floor, police said. He takes her keys and wallet, and leaves the building.

A short time later, the victim's credit card was used at Walmart at 355 Cypress Gardens Blvd., about two miles away, according to police.

But she says although it would be nice to get her car back, what was taken from her purse is something she says will be hard to replace.

If she had the chance, Barnett would like to tell the man: "Please give me my purse back. I need that. It has credit cards, Social Security cards. I can't replace my life."

Barnett says the library staff is making sure things are always locked since the theft.

Anyone with information on Young, and the victim's red 2012 Nissan Frontier that has a Florida tag C61 8TZ, is asked to call Winter Haven Detective Larry Brooks at 863-401-2256 or Heartland Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-TIPS (8477). Callers can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a CASH reward.

He faces charges of burglary and grand theft auto.
