Bradenton, Florida – A vigil was held on at the Riverwalk in Bradenton on Monday night for a teen who was killed in the parking lot of a movie theater on earlier Monday.

"It caught me off guard. Got a phone call early this morning," said Robert Powell, a family friend.

Teria'le Rawls was hanging out in the parking lot of the Royal Palm Theater on 26th Avenue East near U.S. 301 when there was an altercation.

During the incident, the 17-year-old was shot and that is when friends put her in a car and tried to drive her to the hospital. But, by the time they were stopped by Florida Highway Patrol for driving too fast, she had already passed away.

"To have a 17-year-old daughter myself, it just tore me up," Powell said shortly after giving a speech to the parents and teenagers who attended the Monday evening event.

The Manatee County Sheriff's Office arrested Jasper Dudley of Bradenton in connection with the case, but they are still looking for Frank Brice of Palmetto.

It's not clear why the kids were hanging out the parking at of the closed movie theater, which was the scene of a near riot back in 2010 that involved teenagers when 300 began fighting and five were arrested.

The sheriff's spokesperson said that besides a car burglary and trespassing, they have had no ongoing problems involving teens at the theater.

Investigators are asking anyone with information on Brice to call the sheriff's office at 941-747-3011 or Crime Stoppers at 866-634-TIPS.
