Riverview, Florida -- A repeat Riverview restaurant burglar is caught on camera breaking into two businesses. Now, investigators need your help to capture him before he strikes again.
The burglaries happened early Friday morning, just 8 minutes apart.
He first hit East Coast Pizza, 13340 Lincoln Road at 12:32 a.m.
Then, less than a mile away, he smashed his way into Mi Casa Mexican Restaurant at 12:40 a.m.
There's clear video from both businesses. Deputies hope the public can help bust this brazen burglar.
"He gives it a few slams and goes right in," said Cristal Bermudez Nunez, of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
Investigators say the burglar shattered the side door to East Coast Pizza. He doesn't hide his face as he strolls past the pizza counter and heads straight for the cash register.
"It's scary, because there's people like that out there," said Tara Parrish, East Coast Pizza clerk.
But Parrish says that's why the business is conscious about protecting its "dough." The burglar quickly discovered the business removes the register every night, so there was nothing there for him to take.
"He just wasn't able to find anything, I guess not what he was looking for at least," Parrish said.
The Hillsborough sheriff is looking for a man suspected of breaking into two restaurants in Riverview.
So, as fast as he smashed his way in, he was out. "He's back to the truck. We think that's a white, single-cab GMC truck," says Bermudez Nunez.
But the empty-handed burglar continued his crime spree at Mi Casa, 10283 Big Bend Road. He smashed the patio door and made a bee-line back to manager Carlos Ruiz's office. "It could have been one of our customers, who already knew this is my office," Ruiz said.
This time, he made a fast-money grab. Investigators believe he may have been scoping out his targets. "Either he's just very quick, or he's been in these locations before and kind of knows exactly where to go so you're in and out quickly," Bermudez Nunez said.
Now, deputies want to quickly put a stop to this bold business burglar. "This could be someone who is ready to target more businesses in the area this evening," Bermudez Nunez said.
The man was described as a white male, 45 to 55 years old, about 5-foot-8, about 190 pounds. He also has a tattoo on his right forearm and balding brown hair. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, white shorts, gray gloves and dark-rimmed reading glasses.
Anyone with any information about the burglar is asked to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at 813-247-8200. Anyone with any information regarding the identity and whereabouts of this suspect, and who wants to be eligible for a cash reward is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS (8477).
