St. Petersburg, Florida -- A St. Petersburg woman is facing DUI and child neglect charges after she allegedly crashed her car after spending four hours drinking in a bar.
Police were called out to the Tryst Gastro Lounge around 3 a.m., where they found a crowd of people pointing to a woman inside a 2010 silver Mercedes. Witnesses told police the woman had struck two parked cars as she was backing out and was now attempting to leave the area.
Officers approached the car, where they found 36-year-old Krastina Yankova Gesheva behind the wheel, and her 8-year-old son in the back seat. Neither were injured and when officers asked for Gesheva to exit the car, they claim she was clearly under the influence.
Witnesses told police Gesheva had been inside the lounge drinking for approximately four hours, and that her son had been left alone inside the car during that time. Occasionally the boy would exit the car and go inside the bar, looking for his mother.
Gesheva was charged with DUI and Child Neglect. Police say her blood alcohol content was 0.177%, well over the legal limit of 0.08%.
Officers are arranging for a guardian to take custody of the child.
A mother left her son in a car and went drinking at a bar and then struck two vehicles with her car, police said.
