Sarasota, Florida -- The Florida Highway Patrol has identified the 27-year-old man and his 11-year-old passenger who were involved in a deadly motorcycle crash in Sarasota Tuesday afternoon.
Troopers say around 2:20 p.m., Richard Schoeneck and Aniston Jasch were heading east on Clark Road at I-75 when a Lincoln Town Car, heading west on the road, tried to make a left turn across the eastbound lanes and into the motorcycle's path.
The front of the motorcycle subsequently hit the passenger side of the car.
Schoeneck was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Jasch, 11, is in serious condition at All Children's Hospital.
The driver of the car, 82-year-old Kenneth Widmaier, was charged with failing to yield to right-of-way.
Schoeneck worked as a gymnastics coach at Lakewood Ranch Gymnastics. The gym posted on their Facebook page about Schoeneck's passing and Jasch's condition, who was one of the gym's team athletes. On Schoeneck's Facebook page it shows he was in a relationship with Kimberly Jasch, who is Aniston's mother.
Kimberly shared a link to a fundraiser page on her Facebook page with updates on her daughter's condition. The site says Aniston is "out of surgery and is awake and alert." It also says, "her left femur was broken so badly she needed pins surgically placed to hold her leg together."
