Agents bust man for wanting to have wife killed for $15,000.
Fort Meade, Florida -- A 43-year-old man is under arrest Wednesday after he tried to have his wife killed, but wound up setting up the hit with an agent.
Vincent Abraham Madhavath is charged with one count of solicitation to commit murder and one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He was arrested by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Tampa Bay and Fort Myers Regional Operations Centers, with assistance from the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
FDLE agents started investigating Madhavath after receiving information that he was looking for someone to conduct a "hit" for his friend, according to a release. During the two-month investigation, an undercover FDLE agent met with Madhavath three times to discuss the killing of a woman. Eventually, Madhavath revealed that the target of the hit was his wife and offered to pay the agent $15,000.
On Wednesday, Madhavath met with the undercover agent in Fort Meade, and gave him a $5,000 down payment for the murder, according to the release. Madhavath and the agent talked about staging a home invasion where the agent would physically assault Madhavath and kill his wife.
FDLE agents stopped Madhavath as he left the meeting.
Madhavath was booked into the Polk County Jail.
