Tampa, Florida --Top ranked Tampa General Hospital continues to make strides in the world of medicine as the 400th lung transplant was performed there on Wednesday.

Ed Mosconi battled breathing problems for 11 years. He suffered from COPD and lung disease and has waited a year and a half to get a new set of lungs.

The hospital's 400th lung transplant was recently performed.

His transplant is not only a milestone for Tampa General but it also means a new way of life.

"To be able to breath on my own without having tubes and tanks hooked up it's just everybody asks me that and it's just I don't I haven't thought about it cause I really wasn't sure I'd ever see this day," said Ed Mosconi.

The 68-year-old will be released from the hospital and will be back home with his family Thursday.
