Tampa Bay, Florida -- The Florida Department of Health recognizes August as National Immunization Awareness Month and encourages parents to have their children immunized now to avoid the back-to-school immunization rush.
Parents of kindergartners and 7th graders are encouraged to review their children's immunization record to ensure they are ready for the upcoming school year. Students entering college are also encouraged to ensure their immunizations are up to date.

Pinellas County schools are back in session on Monday, Aug. 18. Making sure that your child's immunizations are up-to-date before classes begin requires a trip to your health provider or to one of these Florida Department of Health in Pinellas County (DOH-Pinellas)locations:

DOH-Manatee is providing free immunization services for eligible children who are entering school for the first time and those who are returning to class in the upcoming school year.
DOH-Manatee offers free back-to-school vaccinations Monday through Friday, 7:30 - 5:00 p.m. by appointment and walk-in. To schedule an appointment, call (941) 748-0747, extension 1456.
Hillsborough County Public Schools and the Back-to-School Coalition of Hillsborough County are hosting opportunities for free physicals and immunizations on upcoming Saturdays.

The Department of Health in Hernando County offers childhood immunizations Monday through Friday from 8-11 a.m. and 1-3:30 p.m. at their Spring Hill location at 7551 Forest Oaks Blvd.
Immunizations are also available on Tuesdays and Fridays from 8-11 a.m. and 1-3:30 p.m. at the Brooksville Health Department location, 300 S. Main Street.
A special Saturday immunization clinic will be held on Aug. 16 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Brooksville office.
