Lakeland, Florida -- An arrest warrant has been issued for a man wanted in connection with the beating and robbery of a 76-year-old working at a smoke shop. The two suspects got $18.

Angel Miguel Molina, 28, is wanted for strong-armed robbery and battery on a person 65 years or older. Police warn that he has a violent past.

Maxie Robinson Junior is a regular at the Downtown Diner on Main Street in downtown Lakeland. He eats breakfast and lunch at the restaurant every day and then picks up cigarettes and scratch-off tickets at the Mark Twain Smoke Shop next door at 124 West Main St.

Thursday was different, though. He says he was walking toward the smoke shop when he saw a man running away from the store, "I didn't have time to be scared. It happened real fast."

A 76-year-old Lakeland store owner just trying to make a living is bruised and beaten during a robbery and could have been killed -- all over $18.

Robinson went inside the smoke shop and says he saw the owner, his friend, being brutally attacked, "And when I pushed the door open to come in - I heard her crying for help." He says she told him, "He walked up to her and just started wailing on her, without saying a word."

Lakeland police have released images of both of the suspects who were captured moments earlier as they strolled by a nearby business. The attack happened in the middle of the day, around 2:40 p.m. Robinson says both men took off in the direction of the post office, leaving the store owner in pretty bad shape, "Blood on her shirt, but her nose was bleeding bad."

Ken Berman owns the building and says, "It seemed like there was a motivation towards meanness and violence to walk to the back of the shop just to beat her up when she wasn't putting up any resistance. I'm sure if they'd said something about robbing her she just would have given up the money."

Lakeland police have named one of the men sought in the beating and robbery of a store owner.

10 News did speak with the victim who was too shaken up to talk about the incident on camera. Friday she was back at work.

Anyone with information on the identification of the individuals is asked to contact the Lakeland Police Department at 863-834-6900, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-8477. To remain anonymous and be eligible for a cash reward, you must contact Crime Stoppers.
