ST. PETERSBURG BEACH, FLA. -- ONLY ON 10: If you don't like getting parking tickets – listen up!

City officials say there's a way to get out of parking tickets at St. Pete Beach.

City officials say they want people to visit - so badly, they're willing to dismiss your first parking ticket. It's a policy modeled after one happening now in St. Petersburg.

The St. Pete Beach interim City Manager said, "Getting a parking ticket is never a fun thing - we hope it gets the bad taste out of a person's mouth." If you get a $30 parking violation - and you spent $30 at the shops or restaurants at that time - they'll call it even.

Restaurant employees--10 News spoke with--like the idea. And boutique owners like Dody Turner like it too, "Thanks from the businesses on this street especially - we are way out on Pass-a-Grille and it keeps people coming out here."

"It is just another way to have our brick and mortar businesses benefit," said the interim City Manager.

Keep in mind though, this is a one time thing! You can't come back every weekend and not pay for your parking tickets. This just passed and is being drafted now, it should go into effect in about a month. Remember, this is only for metered parking tickets, not tickets in resident parking zones.

Keep your receipt and ticket, go to City Hall 155 Corey Avenue, St. Pete Beach, FL 33706. Email and fax options available. No traditional mail option. Call City Hall with questions: (727) 367-2735.
