Tampa, Florida -- Northbound lanes of Dale Mabry Highway are closed between West Ballast Point and Gandy boulevards due to water main repairs.
There also is a boil water advisory in the area.
The Tampa Water Department has barricades and signs in the area to assist with traffic. The department recommends that drivers use alternate routes.
The repair is expected to be done by 9 a.m. Tuesday, but then restoration work will be needed, the department said. Traffic is expected to return to the northbound lanes by 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Tampa police said there is a detour at Ballast Point Boulevard to Himes Avenue to Gandy Boulevard.
Motorists might need to plan ahead if they are headed to schools in South Tampa such as Chiaramonte Elementary School, Achievement Center Pre-School, Lanier Elementary School, Monroe Middle School, West Shore Elementary School and Robinson High School.
Expect traffic delays until the issue is resolved.
