Brooksville, Florida --- Three people were shot dead and one was wounded in Brooksville late Friday night.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers found three deceased gunshot victims: Tarasha Townsend, Ralph Peyton, and Jannie Taylor. A fourth victim, Gabriel Taylor, was located a short distance from the residence after he apparently fled from the Peach Street address during the shooting. Taylor was chased down and shot multiple times by the shooter.
According to investigators, the shooter, later identified as George Mason II, was struck by a passing vehicle right after he shot Taylor on MLK Jr. Blvd.
Mason sustained serious injuries and was transported to Bayonet Point Hospital. Mason currently has a broken back, legs and neck.
Taylor was transported to Bayonet Point Hospital and is in critical condition.
Brooksville Chief of Police George Turner says everyone involved knew each other and that the last homicide in Brooksville was back in 2012. Turner doesn't remember a shooting of this magnitude in recent history.
The firearm used in the shooting, a 9mm handgun was recovered at the scene. Ralph Peyton, Jannie Taylor and Gabriel Taylor all reside at the home on Peach Street where the shooting took place. It appears Townsend and Mason were in a relationship and lived together at a home in Lutz.
A motive has not been determined at this time and the investigation is continuing.
