ST. PETERSBURG, FL - On Saturday, June 14, 50 talented young women from across the state arrive in St. Petersburg to compete for the Miss Florida crown during Miss Florida 2014 Viva La Diva.

Following a week of public appearances, rehearsals and preliminary competitions, one young woman will be crowned on Saturday, June 21, at the Mahaffey Theater. The 8 p.m. Las Vegas-style stage production, inspired by the music of Elvis Presley, celebrates 10 years of Miss Florida pageantry in St. Petersburg. In addition to the June 21 pageant, there are five preliminary competitions: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, June 17-19, at 7:30 p.m., and two preliminaries on Friday, June 20, at 4 and 8 p.m. that the public may attend.

The winner of this year's Miss Florida title will represent the Sunshine State at the 2015 Miss America Pageant in September after she is crowned by Miss Florida 2013 Myrrhanda Jones on June 21. Myrrhanda was the third runner-up in the 2014 Miss America Pageant after seriously injuring herself during talent rehearsals. Her enthusiastic performance during the preliminary talent competition, despite her painful injury and having to compete wearing a bedazzled knee brace, earned her the preliminary talent award.

On Wednesday June 18, 39 contestants vying for the title of Miss Florida's Outstanding Teen will arrive in St. Petersburg for rehearsals and preliminary competition before Saturday's 4 p.m. finals, also at the Mahaffey Theater.

This year's teen winner will be crowned by Leah Sykes, Miss Florida's Outstanding Teen 2013, the second Florida contestant to win the title of Miss America's Outstanding Teen in the past three years. Also appearing in Saturday's pageant finals are 90 Sunshine Princes and Princesses, selected and mentored by each local titleholder during their reign.

Tickets for both the Miss Florida and Miss Florida's Outstanding Teen preliminaries and pageant finals are on sale now at the Mahaffey Theater Box Office at (727) 892-5767.
