NEW SMYRNA BEACH, FL - A 14-year-old says he was bitten by a shark at New Smyrna Beach Wednesday, Orlando Sentinel reports.
Officials told WESH-TV 14-year-old Tristan Durham had several lacerations to his right foot after a shark bit him while the teen surfed around the jetty.
The injuries were only minor and was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle for treatment, according to Tammy Marris of Volusia Beach Safety Rescue.
The shark was not seen.
Photos sent to WESH-TV from the Durham family show Tristan's injuries.
According to beach officials, it's the fifth shark bite in Volusia County in 2014.
All of the bites happened in the same area at a beach dubbed the shark bite capital of the world.
