NAPLES, Florida -- It's acceptable to shoot and kill an alligator in Florida, but you better have a permit and wait until Friday night. A man in Collier County didn't do either.

Nile Duppstadt was arrested Thursday for shooting a 2 1/2-foot alligator in his backyard. The 72-year-old was charged with killing an alligator and discharging a firearm in public.

His bond amount was listed as $7,000.
