Brooksville, Florida -- The Brooksville Police officer involved in a six-car pileup on Broad Street Tuesday morning is out of the hospital.

Officer Meredith Blackman was most seriously injured, but is doing much better tonight.

Officer Meredith Blackman is listed in good condition at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point after being airlifted early Tuesday morning from an accident that had Brooksville Police Chief George Turner extremely concerned.

Police say a truck driver fell asleep and smashed into Officer Blackman triggering the pile-up. The driver has been charged with careless driving.
