Tampa, Florida -- He's performed with names like Tupac, Justin Timberlake, and Pitbull. He's performed at the Oscars and the Super Bowl. But this internationally-known drummer, who graduated from Chamberlin High School and USF, says performing at IIFA events will be bigger than ever.
Meet Ravi Jakhotia, better known as "DJ Ravi Drums," who many years ago was the co-captain of Chamberlin High School's drumline and will be performing at three IIFA events this week: Stomp, IIFA Rocks and the main event, the IIFA Awards.
"To come home, to Tampa and play at the stadium and be Indian -- it's amazing," Ravi says.
We met up with Ravi and his dad, Ram, at his alma mater Chamberlin where he reminisced about high school. Ravi even found his old locker. And then, like it was nothing, he gave us a private performance.
The drums have been part of Ravi's life since he and his father can remember and both of them agree, this opportunity is once in a lifetime.
"As a father, I am so proud of my son. To be performing at home. At this level what more can you ask for?" Ram says.
"To come home and play Tampa stadium -- come on, come on! I mean, that's awesome!" Ravi says.
