Tampa, Florida -- UPDATE: Tampa Police say the mother who took off with her infant from St. Joseph's Children's Hospital against the doctor's advice has turned herself in.
Police say Teosha Blackmon's daughter, Constance, was checked into St. Joseph's Hospital for observation. The baby appears to be in good health, but hospital staff will determined when she will be released after the observation period.
Blackmon was arrested and charged with child neglect.
On May 10, 2-year-old Constance Bostick was admitted to St. Joseph's Children's Hospital for surgery. An hour after surgery, police say Constance's mother, 29-year-old Teosha Blackmon, removed the child's IVs and left with her.
Hospital staff contacted police to conduct a welfare check, but neither mother nor daughter could be found.
On Thursday, Constance was declared a ward of the state, but police were not able to locate her.
