19-year-old Aaron Smock and his dad never expected to see a 12-foot long hammerhead swim so close to their boat off Anna Maria Island.
Anna Maria Island, Florida -- Coming home from a fishing trip on Anna Maria Island, 19-year-old Aaron Smock and his dad got quite a close surprise.
"We noticed a really big shadow out there!" said Aaron.
It looked like a hammerhead shark chasing a tarpon for dinner within just a few feet of their boat.
"It's an amazing experience. I can't even describe it. He was pushing it around as fast as possible, like a toy!" Aaron said.
Aaron quickly grabbed his iPhone and started rolling. His video has since become a minor social media sensation, getting shared and "liked" hundreds of times within minutes.
Within what was probably the same amount of time, the chase was over, and Aaron -- who's been fishing almost all his life -- said he can't wait to hit the water again.
"As soon as I can … my next day off work! I'll go back and see if I can see it again!"
By the way, hammerheads very rarely attack humans. There have only been 17 reported cases worldwide, and zero fatalities.
