St. Petersburg, Florida – Childhood is supposed to be a carefree existence right? But unfortunately, kids in the Tampa Bay area often witness trauma or are victims themselves.

That's where the counseling services provided by Directions for Living come in. The Pinellas not-for-profit serves some 6,000 people a year.

"We're there to wrap our arms and support around families," says Directions' Summer Lott. "We go to schools, health centers and homes."

Directions for Living is holding a bicycle fundraiser on May 4 in St. Petersburg. There are three different route lengths, so there's something for everyone.

"We're taking advantage of the waterfront and beautiful homes," says Lott. "It should be a fun ride for every level of biker."
