Plant City, Florida -- A truck carrying logs was split in half Wednesday morning after it was struck by a CSX freight train.
Hillsborough Sheriff's investigators say Roberto Febles was driving the semi truck westbound on Moriczville Road and was crossing over the railroad tracks at State Road 39 in Plant City when he hit by the train. The train split the bed of the truck in half and pushed it about 1,000 feet down the track. The load of logs was dumped along the tracks around the front end of the engine.
Although the truck received extensive damage, Febles received only minor injuries. Febles was taken to a local hospital where he will be treated and released. No one on the train was injured.
There are no electronic crossing signals at this crossing, just posted "R.R. Crossing" signs. So far, no charges have been filed.
