Bartow, FL-- The man known as the Quran-burning pastor was granted a continuance from a judge Friday morning.
Terry Jones' attorney motioned for a continuance for the pastor's plea agreement date. The judge accepted and set Jones' new court date for the week of May 12th.
Jones was arrested last September on a felony charge. He hauled 3,000 copies of the Quran, soaked in kerosene to a park in Mulberry with plans to set them on fire.
The plea deal that Jones was expected to take would drop that felony charge and he would not go to jail in Polk County. The deal would also let Jones carry a gun, something he says he wants, admitting that he gets hundreds of death threats.
